The pulmonary rehabilitation program at Washington Hospital provides one-on-one counseling and support for patients who are candidates for pulmonary rehabilitation. Included are patients who suffer from shortness of breath and may have asthma, chronic bronchitis, emphysema, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), pulmonary fibrosis, or other respiratory diseases.

Pulmonary rehabilitation requires a physician referral and a preliminary testing (pulmonary function test and clinical exercise study used for exercise prescription).

The usual schedule for a rehabilitation plan is individual appointments twice a week for eight weeks, and includes breathing retraining and monitored exercise.

The cost for treatment varies based on the treatment prescribed. 这个项目 is approved for reimbursement by Medicare and most major insurance companies. HMO's will require pre-authorization for coverage.
